Back Home

Back home now from our trek to Montana - all in all, a beautiful place. I realize that I missed Hmph Day yesterday and yet another opportunity to showcase KanYe, who is close to breaking Mariah Carey’s record of appearances.

Apparently, there’s a report that his management wanted him to attend anger management training for his frequent hissy fits. He denied it in classic fashion, posting to his blog with lots of capital letters.

You know, I should just start a KanYe blog. There’s enough material there to make fun of him full time.

Hmph Day: Britney’s BAAAACK!

And I opened the seventh seal…:

Britney Spears’ new album is underway and according to the producer with whom she is working, it’s “real aggressive”.

Rodney Jerkins, who created hits with the likes of TLC, including the enormously successfully ‘No Scrubs’, and Brandy on her ‘Full Moon’ album, is collaborating with Spears for the first time in seven years and says the new material is “very dance-y, very up-tempo, in the clubs, real aggressive, and catchy…very, very hook-friendly.”

(Source: NME.com)

So in other words, it’s going to sound like everything else she’s done, and everything that’s out right now. We’ll wait to see if it’s “hook-friendly.” Jerkins’ idea of a hook may be totally different than my idea.

Apparently, this is an attempt to “re-invent” her sound, which to me sounds like a new packaging. Everyone predicted this: Britney bouncing back after deep personal struggles, stronger than ever, comeback of the year, yada yada. It’s all in the PR spin.

But wait, there’s more! According to Jerkins, Spears is a fast worker, finishing a song in just two hours! “She walked in at 8:30 and was out by 10:30 - did the whole song - in and out.”

Looks like Britney She has so much talent Wait, two hours to record Too. Many. Jokes.

Hmph Day: Like You Need Another Reason to Hate Nickelback

This video has been floating around teh Internets for almost two years now, but since I usually try to avoid all things Nickelback, I only found it the other day while researching a story about bands that sound the same.

This site plays two Nickelback songs simultaneously; in one speaker, you’ll hear their 2001 song “How You Remind Me,” and in the other speaker, you’ll hear “Someday,” a song they recorded two years later. Try to find the difference. I guess they can’t sue themselves. But who knows? Maybe it’s an old Creed song. Or Bush. Or Marcy Playground.

Scientific Proof that Nickelback Sucks
