I get "earworms" all the time, too. And thanks to you right now I have "Can't Get It Out of My Head" stuck. When I used to actually play instruments, I would get the songs (not the whole song, just an annoying part of it) I was practicing stuck in my head and I would have to move my fingers, too. It was maddening!! Like a nervous habit.

Thanks for the visit, Laura. Your brain seems to be helpful in sending you those earworms - Which makes me even more nervous about the meaning behind "The Freaks Come Out at Night"...

Great blog. I loved Musicophilia, and have had the dream police inside of my head and many other earworms over the years. Those buggers certainly are difficult to evacuate at times. I had a spiritual awakening through rock music six years ago, and ever since, I've been more susceptible to earworms.

I've found that occasionally, even if I haven't heard a song in quite some time,my subconscious will simply start playing a tune in which the lyrics are relevant to my life right now, or seemingly answer a question I've been asking. It's as if I'm being given a nudge towards paying attention to the words. Sometimes, it's quite fun to figure out the deeper meaning!
